Swedish dance-pop producer Discrete introduces his brand-new single/music video, “Drown In Me,” via Astralwerks, featuring Canada’s pop star Kiesza, Iceland’s singer-songwriter Ouse, and Colombia’s artist/actor Dylan Fuentes.

“Drown In Me” narrates the delicate nature of love, exploring the nuances of falling “in and out of love,” reminding listeners that the thrill of romance is inherently unstable.

Written in 2019, the 2020 anomaly generated the song’s core of association and spirit.

Discrete explains, “This record wouldn’t have turned out the way it did if it wasn’t for the lockdowns across the world.”

He goes on to add, “I’ve never met Ouse, Dylan, or Kiesza in person. They all contributed to the song remotely from their part of the world, and I think that uniqueness gives the song a special global feel. Although lockdowns put a stop to many things in our lives, they’ve also proven that passion for music will never die.”

Despite the oddity of last year, Discrete released his debut EP, Explore, a collection of dynamic dance songs displaying his gift for blending shimmering textures with alluring pop elements. In addition, he released a number of singles, including the breezy pop-house track “In My Heart,” collaborating with Pawl. The song went on to amass 5.5 million Spotify streams.

Opening on swirling, emerging colors topped by lush, velvety vocals, “Drown In Me” rides a thumping kick drum accented by a cavernous bassline. Thrumming, humming savors inject the contagious melody with layers of seductive flavors. As the various voices enter, they imbue the lyrics with intimate, vulnerably aromas.

Shot in shades of dark blue and black with tints of warm colors, the video depicts couples going through the aching throes of love and emotional connection. Brimming with exquisite water shots, the immersed images portray the water-like sheath of all-encompassing affection.

In combination with the work-of-art visuals, the potent textures of “Drown In Me” form a tantalizing earworm that’s simply irresistible.
